He told everyone in high school he would one day marry Patricia A Burns, and did so on December 26, 1958. Five children; Sharon, Deborah, Shaun, Recy, and Charles were born from the marriage.
After a short stint in the Army "Ter” built a very successful 40 year career with Allstate Insurance, winning many state and national awards.

Proceeds from the very successful bingo enterprise provided a personal vehicle for the nuns serving the school, a bus for transporting students to and from the school, and funds for construction of the new school building. He and Pat were honored by the Diocese of Austin with the Education Service Award (Saints and Scholars) for their many years of service to St. Joseph’s Catholic School.
After retiring, Ter enjoyed traveling throughout the state singing with the Texas Country Gentlemen barbershop chorus.
