Ret.SGM George Bayless

Graveside services with Full Military Honors for Mr. Bayless will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with burial to follow. A visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 AM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.

George was born on June 30, 1936 in Prescott, Arkansas to Otis and Mary Fulks Bayless. He graduated from high school in 1955 in Prescott and was drafted into the Army in 1956. Mr. Bayless served his country bravely for two tours in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star as well as many other medals. He continued to serve his country proudly for a total of 33 years before his retirement as Sergeant Major from the Pentagon in 1989. George married Jewelene Charles on February 5, 1959 in Prescott, Ark. and they celebrated 56 years together before his passing.

George was preceded in death by his parents as well as a daughter, Angelia Bayless, and a son Tony Bayless. He is survived by his wife Jewelene, daughter Dian Bayless, sons George Bayless IV and Patrick Bayless, a brother Otis Bayless, and seven grandchildren.

Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen is in charge of the arrangements.
