

Funeral Services for James Matthew White, 78, a longtime resident of Killeen, will be 1:00 PM Friday, January 31, 2020, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Burial with military honors will follow at 3:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
James was born October 5, 1941 in Wilson, North Carolina to the late James and Effie Williamson White. He joined the U.S. Army in 1964 and served time in the Vietnam War. He retired from the Army in 1987 as a First Sergeant. James married Mary Cobin Sanford on March 22, 2008. James was a member of the “Cooties”, a lifetime member of the VFW Post # 9191 in Killeen, and enjoyed spending his time volunteering at the VA Hospital in Temple where he would often call their Bingo games.
James was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda White, brothers, John White, Elijah White and Turner White, and a sister, Clara White Elliott.
He is survived by his wife, Mary White; daughter, Janet McCoy and her husband Carl; step-sons; Willie Wells and Marcus Sanford; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a host of other family.
