John retired from the Army after 20 years of service and made Killeen/Harker Heights home for his family.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marianne; son, Robert and his wife Barbara; daughter Jo Ann and her husband Bill, daughter , Janice; grandchildren: Carl and wife Lesa, John and wife Stacey, Megan ,Justin and wife Kristen, Kyle, Dawneva and great-grandchildren Liam, Gracie, Zoey, Corydon, Zarek and Lilith.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
