

Ssgt (Ret.) John Luckey, Jr., age 90, of Killeen passed away November 27. A visitation is set for 6:30 - 8:00 pm, Friday, November 30 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home. Services for Mr. Luckey are scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, December 1 at Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church in Killeen with burial on Tuesday, December 4 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
John was born December 24, 1921 in Bartlett, Texas to John Wesley Luckey and Estelle Luckey. He married Helen Marie Nichols on October 25, 1957 in Blanco, Texas. They had 7 children. He served in WWII and the Korean Conflict with stints in North Africa, Germany, and many more places. Mr. Luckey worked for AAFES and Wooten Drilling Company after retiring from the U.S. Army. He enjoyed talking to the many people he met and he never met a person he would not talk to. He enjoyed mowing lawns for people in the neighborhood until age 87.
Mr. Luckey is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Sandra, and two sons, Tyrone and Allen.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Helen; 3 daughters, Helen Davis of Celina, Virgil Ann Sutton (husband Leonard) of Seguine, and Marian Rolene Jameson (husband Frank) of Austin; one son, Kenneth Roy Luckey (wife Angie) of Virginia; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Sanders of San Antonio and Vida Taylor of Florida, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
