Leroy "Bob" Rice

Funeral services with full military honors for Leroy “Bob” Rice, 78, of Killeen will be 9:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will have a time of visitation on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home.

Mr. Rice passed away at a Temple hospital on Tuesday, June 07, 2011.

Leroy Robert Rice was born on October 10, 1932 in Sharon Hill, PA to Frank and Pearl (Hutchinson) Rice.

He married Barbara Cayless on October 31, 1955 in Columbus, Georgia. Bob retired from the US Army after 22 years. SFC Rice received the Bronze Star to Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Good Conduct Medal, Clasp, Bronze, 4 loops; Army Commendation Medal.

He then retired from civil service after 23 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Frank Rice and a great grandson, Bryton Rice.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara Rice of Killeen; two sons, Chris (Renee) Rice of Killeen and Jeff (Debbie) Rice of Temple; a daughter, Sharon Cochran of Killeen; one sister, Loretta Potts of Oregon; six grandchildren, Angie Stringfellow, Brandon Rice, Christy Arnold, Samantha Chase, Courtney Daughetry and Danielle Rice and eight great grandchildren.
