Lorene Peaten Peaten Williams

July 8, 1940 - January 11, 2016

Lorene P. Williams was born July 8, 1940 in Opp, Alabama. She was one of thirteen children. She graduated from Dickerson High School, Jersey City, New Jersey. She continued her education at Central Texas College and received her Nursing Degree.

Lorene was employed by Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, Texas and retired after 21 years of service. She was the founding member of the Gospel Group "The Emanulettes." Lorene was a vibrant, versatile, compassionate, giving person. On June 26, 1982 she joined in marriage with Mr. Johnnie Leonard Williams in Killeen, Texas.

She leaves to mourn her daughter; Robbye Denise Jones and her son; the late Bernard Lane, her brother Marion Peaten of Alabama, her sisters; Minnie McClary of Maryland, Frankie Johnson of Maryland, Mary Johnson of Alabama, Evelyn Peaten of New Jersey, and Glenda Peaten of Texas, two grandchildren; Rashon of Florida, and Kendall of New Jersey, 24 nieces and nephews, 32 great-nieces and nephews, and 12 great-great-nieces and nephews, the Emanuel Church of God in Christ and many friends.

A home going celebration for Lorene will be on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 1:00pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen with Superintendent Dr. Rudolph Jackson of God's Holy Tabernacle COGIC officiating, a time of visitation will be from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
