When I think of Sgt Torres I think of every time he goaded me into getting out of the house. Every single time he talked me out of that house i had a great time and a memory I wont forget. My best memories in the military so far have all been with Sgt torres. Even when days were tough, he always managed to make things more enjoyable and lighthearted. The thing I appreciated the most was no matter what he was going through, he was always about getting everyone together. He helped me personally out of tough times, helped me turn a page and gave me purpose. To me he will always be a great role model for others to follow.

Luis and the girls, early Christmas morning in Copperas Cove, Texas.

I first met Luis and his family when I was traveling to Copperas Cove with my father for my sister's birthday 2006. I remember him as fun-loving teenager with a big smile on his face, he was my niece's boyfriend. Six months later we saw us again. He traveled to Germany to surprise his girlfriend. She was on vacation and visited us and her grandparents in Fulda. We all enjoyed the carefree and happy time together. How time flies. A few years later, back in Texas, the young couple started a family. In 2016 Luis was stationed in Germany. Since then, two lovable and bright daughters have fulfilled their everyday life. We celebrated some nice parties: Grandpa's 80th birthday and of course Christmas. Luis was there: laughing, happy, sociable and in a good mood, together with all our family and friends. In 2019 they all went back to America. 3 years have passed since then. And now the shocking news that Luis died in an accident. We still can't believe it, but it's true. Our thoughts are with you all. 
I wish we weren't so far away. We would love to hug and to comfort you ...
May God give you strength and support in this time of farewell, but also hope that this is not the end. Luis lives on in all the good memories that friends and family share together and in his children.

He had a smile on his face most of the time. He had a positive attitude that could take on the world. He has always had my respect. 
The memory would be in Iraq during the tear down phase. We all kept ourselves entertained by goofing around and having a rivalry between operators and maintainers. He fought the hardest for the maintainers. 

America lost a soldier, 

Parents lost a son,

A brother lost a brother, 

A wife lost her husband, 

Daughters lost their father, 

But God gained an angel…

Love never ceases.
