Luther Vines

Mr. Luther Vines entered eternal rest on Monday May 12, 2025, at his home. He was born on April 11, 1941, to the late Fred Vines and Emma C Wright in Lafayette, Alabama. He Graduated from East Depot High School in Lagrange, Georgia.

He later enlisted in the United States Army in 1958 and served three consecutive tours in Vietnam. He received the Bronze Medal for his bravery and accomplishments. He retired from the military in 1979 with an honorable discharge. After his military career he worked civil service, retiring after 20 years.

He was married to the love of his life, Nettie Mae Vines who preceded him in death for 15 wonderful years. Together they shared many memories. He was a faithful member of Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a former member of 19th Street Chapel.

He leaves to cherish many loving memories one son, Arthur Patterson (Connie) College Park GA, five stepchildren, Reginald Moody, Lagrange GA, Telecia Tucker (Michael) Copperas Cove TX, Valerie Smith (Anthony) Tammy Moody, Gerald Moody Killeen TX, Grandchildren, Arthur Earl and Tiffany Patterson, Rodricus Matthews, Sharonda Martin, Trinez Hill, Jabreka Blackman, Durante, Deundra and Ashley Moody, Thirty-Two Great-Grandchildren, Two Brothers; Steven, Kevin Five sisters; Nadine, Sylvia, Teresa of Rockford, Mattie Ruth Caldwell of Lanette Alabama, Pauline May of Minneapolis, Minnesota and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and close friends.

He Is Not Gone

Ease your grief, he is not gone, for in your heart, he lingers on. His smile, his laugh, his special way, Will comfort you from day to day. You’ll feel his presence in the breeze, That dances gently through the trees. And it’s his face that you shall see, When you’re in need of company. At any time, you can recall, the love you shared…you saved it all. And in time, more than anything, you’ll find peace in remembering.

A Visitation for Luther will be held Friday, May 23, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 South Fort Hood Road, Killeen, TX 765421654. A Funeral Service will occur Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church, 4201 Zephyr Rd, Killeen, TX. A Graveside Service will occur Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Killeen Memorial Park Cemetery, 3516 Lake Rd, Killeen, TX 76543.
