On August 18, 1960 a little boy was born under the name of Marcus Wayne Lethco. He was the first and only son of FM and Nell Cosper Lethco. He had 3 sisters, Rhonda, Karen, and Lisa.
Marcus, also known as Mark or Papa Mark to his grandkids, grew up in a little town south of Killeen called Ding Dong, Texas. If you live there you know it’s a small country town where everyone knows everyone. It’s more of a lifestyle to live in Ding Dong.
Mark grew up working on his parents ranch known as The Diamond L Ranch where he later lived for decades. He graduated from Killeen High School and began working construction with his daddy FM Lethco. He met his first wife, Shelley Lethco with whom he had his first and only son, Justin Wayne Lethco in 1986. A short time later he moved to Amarillo where he managed Monarch paint company and met the love of his life, Lisa, whom he married in 1994 and added her two amazing kids to the bunch, Cassidy and Cody.
They later moved back home to Ding Dong to be close to family and friends.
Mark and Lisa were happily married for 31 years before he made his way to Heaven.
To know mark, is to love him. He was the kindest man to everyone he met. Always making sure everyone around him was doing ok even when he wasn’t himself. He was a simple man with a few great loves. His family, his cows, and sitting in the domino hall. He didn’t need much and his life was full. He loved gardening, he loved watching sports and he loved working on the ranch. He and his son, Justin always looked forward to deer season as they spent ample time together telling stories, visiting and a little hunting on the side. Deer season was more of an excuse to spend quality time together than it was actual hunting. Whether it was feeding his cows, checking the water, driving the pasture he was always happy.
When he did get out of the house, he and Lisa loved to go to Fredericksburg to celebrate their anniversaries and to the coast to celebrate birthdays. He didn’t leave the house much but that’s because he was content with just what he had and that was enough for him.
Mark loved his kids and his grandkids. He has 7 grandkids who he loved very much. When any of them walked in, his face lit up. They all had very special bonds with him in their own special way. He is preceded in death by his mom and dad FM and Nell Lethco , and his sister Rhonda Archer.
He will not only be remembered for his simple and kind heart but he will live on through his family, his friends and everyone that he touched here on earth.
He is survived by his wife Lisa, his son Justin and his wife, Jesse, their children Elliott and Juliette. His stepdaughter Cassidy, her husband, Scott, and her children Mason, Trenton and Aiden. His stepson Cody, and his wife, Hayley, and their children Carter and Cruz. His sisters Lisa Rother and Karen Lethco and brother-in-law Ricky Archer as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Not only will he be remembered but we will think of him in our everyday lives. Whether we are telling a long drawn out story like he always did, growing vegetables in our gardens, or cheering on the Dallas Cowboys for too many years, he will always be remembered fondly and loved tremendously.
