Mary Bernice Bishop

Dedicated Wife, Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great – Great Grandmother Mary Bernice Bishop, age 89, of Killeen Texas passed into God’s hands from natural causes on April 25, 2015. Mary was dedicated to her family, friends, and her church; Pershing Park Baptist Church. Mary’s interests involved Texas Squares Dancing Club, President of the Killeen Garden Club, President of the Fort Hood Officers Wives Club, and the Bob Gilmore Senior Center. Family and friends describe Mary as fantastic, elegant, compassionate, caring, loving, and selfless. There is no one she would not love and no one who did not love her.

Mary was born May 20, 1925 in Jonesville, Louisiana to Fannie (Mamma) and Henry (Pappa) Marlett. Mary had a brother Joseph Marlett. On January 2, 1943 Mary married the love of her life Dwight Calhoun Bishop and shared their love for 66 year until he passed into God’s hands in 2008. Mary is preceded in death by her daughter Laura Bishop and her grandson Corbett Bishop.

Mary is survived by her son Dwight Henry-Lee Bishop of Lampasas Texas, her son James Rodney Bishop of Austin Texas, and her son Larry Paul Kratzenberg of Killeen Texas. Mary has five grandchildren, Toni Ann Halstad of Centralia Washington, Marty Leonne Fletcher of Lampasas Texas, Sherry Treonne Stallings of Lampasas Texas, Brenda Bernice Anderson of Amity Oregon, and Corbett Bishop mentioned above. Mary has 15 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Mary’s viewing will be available on Monday April 27, 2015 between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home 1615 S. Fort Hood Road, Killeen Tx. 76542.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 10:30 am at Pershing Park Baptist Church, 1200 Old FM 440 Rd, Killeen, Tx. 76549. A graveside service will be held directly following the church service at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery 11463 State Hwy 195, Killeen TX. 76542.
