Robert Allen Paine
Robert (Bob) Allen Paine, 69 of Killeen passed away on January 5th, 2023. Bob was born November 5th, 1953 in Kirkland, Washington; son of the late Ethan and Rachel Paine.
Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 23 years, retiring in 1991 as a 1st Sgt. As a 1st Sgt. Robert Paine saw action in The Persian Gulf, where the U.S. Army recognized him for honorable service with a Bronze Star Medal specifically for his bravery in saving his fellow soldiers despite the risks. He also received a Meritorious Service Medal an Army Commendation Medal and an Army Achievement Medal just to name a few.
You wouldn’t believe this about our Bob but the simplest pleasure in life brought him joy. He would not go a day without watching the new unpredictable chaos on his favorite soap opera, General Hospital. He would sit with his wife and commentate play-by-play about who is coming back to life and who is cheating on who. And we can’t forget their evening routine watching Gunsmoke to find out who Matt Dillon burying at Boot Hill.
Nobody loved cruising around the Caribbean more than Bob. So many memories and unforgettable moments were made. There is one unforgettable memory that he was determined to make which was cruising to Key West, Florida, and the waters of Alaska. He finally made it to the Keys this year in September, and unfortunately fell ill upon his return. Key West was bob’s final cruise on earth but we will meet again in heaven where he will have his own ship to cruise all over Alaska, fish off the bow, and travel to magical places. Maybe he can finally catch the big fish that got away.
Bob was a very hard worker in everything he did, making sure his wife and family never needed anything. After retiring from the U.S. Army he started a career with numerous companies in the area as a certified plumber ending this career with the Killeen Independent School District.
He shortly received his Master Plumbing License after a lifetime of service and chose to give himself a promotion in life by starting his own business, Bob’s Back Flow. Bob’s Back Flow ultimately gifted Bob and his wife control of their destiny, where they could cruise around many Oceans whenever they felt the need to have the sun on their face.
Bob was survived by his wife Marion of 38 years, three children Sherri Paine (Brad), Robert Paine, and Jennifer Paine (Volkan), and two stepchildren, Shawn Uschan (Misty) and Tracy Uschan. Two brothers, Len Paine (Karen) and Richard Paine (Alice) Also was preceded in death by a sister Agnes Grabow (Lloyd) and a brother Donald Paine (Mary). Nine grandchildren Riley Pickett, MacKenzie Uschan, Sierra Adkins, Kyle Adkins, Kaitlyn Adkins, Kemal Voit, Cody Crowther, Hayley Crowther, Zackary Crowther, Shane Carr, Sean Carr, Tori Stevenson, and J.D. Of all the people he touched, both willing and unwilling, his most proud achievement in life was marrying his wife Marion Rose Paine who supported him in all his glory during his heyday and lovingly supported him physically during his last days together.
