Harker Heights, Texas.
She married George Hosch and had one son, Joe Ed. After their divorce, she moved to
Fort Hood, Texas and worked in Ordinance and in Finance during World War II. During
the post-war period, she met and married Joe Dowling, had three children, Joanne,
Frank, and Jack, and moved numerous times as a stay-at-home Army wife. After Joe's
retirement from the Army, she went back to work on Fort Hood, retiring as the Chief,
Central Appointments Section, Darnall Army Community Hospital.
She loved her family and friends, loved to dance and travel to new places, and loved
her groups' luncheons and get togethers. She crocheted, knitted, put together jigsaw
puzzles, worked crosswords puzzles and Celebrity Ciphers, and read extensively.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Dowling; parents, Jack and Henrietta
Dunham; in-laws, Joseph and Frieda Dowling; sister, Edna Dunham; son, Joseph
Edward Hosch; 13 aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.
She is survived by daughter Joanne and partner; Kathy; son Frank; son Jack and wife,
Rose; and grandson, Jake.
Ruby was a kind, quick-witted, fun loving person who will be dearly missed by all who
knew her.
