

She was born on November 6, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland to William Dawson & Harriett Benson. She received her Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Maryland, Masters of Nursing at John Hopkins University and Masters in Counseling at Central Texas College.
She served her country during the Vietnam War in the MASH Unit as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Her awards include Vietnam Service Medal-Silver Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation-OLC, and National Defense Medal.
Sally served as a nurse for 55 years, she was a Major in the Salvation Army and a member of the Eastern Star, Johns Hopkins Alumni, Salado Methodist Church, and Lifetime Member of the DAV.
Sally was an avid reader and enjoyed taking cruises around the world. Sally's favorite time was spent with her many children and grand-children.
She is preceded in death by her Husband Jose M. Borja, Daughter Debra C. Borja, Parents (William Dawson & Harriett Benson) and Son-in-Law Rick Leon Guerrero.
Sally leaves loving memories to her Daughters; Jennifer Borja-Smith (Donnie) of Pflugerville, TX, Carol Rodriquez (Ricky) and Maryann Leon Guerrero of Killeen, TX Sons; Jeff Borja, Rod Borja, Danny Borja of Killeen, TX and Joe & LaDawn Borja of Florence, TX. 20 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
Services will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen. Visitation will be Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 6-8 pm, funeral service will be Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11 am, burial will follow at Killeen Memorial Park with Military Honors.
