

Samantha Lane Mason. 51, of Harker Heights, Texas, was born August 20th, 1973, at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. Samantha was adopted by John and Francis Benson. Samantha passed away on November 9, 2024 at St. David's Medical Center in Austin, Texas after fighting many battles with cancer.
Samantha “Sam” was an outgoing person who loved voicing her opinion, and was never afraid to say what everyone else was thinking. Samantha was raised in Niles and Putnam Illinois with her five siblings Karen, Diane, Janet, Gayle, and Johnny. It wasn't long before she met, her soon to be best friend, Lisa Giese. During her childhood she competed in figure skating where she achieved many awards.
Samantha also had many other hobbies as a child including swimming, vacation bible school, reading, riding her ATV, and talent shows. Sam and Lisa were hand in hand at each of these events. Samantha graduated from Maine East High School in 1990. During her time at school, she met some of her closest friends, Maria Sciannameo, Felicia Goldberg and many others who still remain by her side to this day.
Later in life, on January 15th, 2010, Sam married Shane Mason at the Bell County Courthouse in Killeen, Texas. She had three children whom she cherished with all her heart. She found her true calling when she acquired a position at Harker Heights High School working as an Aid in Special Education. When not working, she liked to Cricut, build mums, shop, watch true crime TV, and most of all spend time with her family. She was an active member of the Round Rock Gold Prospectors of America Chapter. One of her most cherished awards was when she won Knight of the Month at Harker Heights High School. When Samantha was not working, she liked to staycation to different places around Texas, and when she left state it was to Kewanee.
Samantha is survived by her Husband, Shane Mason, her three children, Sydney, Harley and Colton, and her three siblings, Diane, Gayle and Johnny.
A Visitation will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel. Cremation will follow Funeral Services. Samantha's ashes remain in the comfort of her loving home.
