Teresa Valdez Valdez Tobias

Funeral services will be held at 1000, April 13, 2015 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church. Father Matthew Kinney of St. Joseph’s will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery at 1200. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home.

Teresa was married to Gumecindo Resendez Tobias on 04 May 1958; they were united for 54 years before his passing on August 07, 2012.

Teresa was born in Carrizo Springs, TX on May 03, 1936 to Baldomero Valdez and Alejandra Padilla.

Teresa spent most of her young life helping her family to include working in her father’s restaurant where she learned to create the delicious meals everyone cherished from her. She then later was married and followed Gumecindo Tobias along his Army career to Panama, Germany, and a multitude of various duty stations stateside before staking roots in Killeen/Fort Hood. Her contributions to her family and friends set strong foundations of God, family, love, caring, pride, and understanding. She is remembered by always singing to her children and family; whether it was “Happy Birthday”, lulliby’s, or singing anything she could think of to lift your spirits. There was a mystical way she used to be able to create meals from absolutely nothing in the cupboards. Her contributions to State and Country are nothing short of Epically Patriotic. Referred to by many as “the greatest American”, she would consistently take every opportunity to display her pride and devotion to the United States of America and its Flag.

Teresa is survived by Elida, Gumecindo Jr., Juan, Diana Flores, Sonia Tobias, Lupita Solis, Andres Tobias and 25 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, two brothers, five sisters, and other family and friends.

Teresa is preceded in death by her spouse Gumecindo Tobias, sister Loretta Jaime and brother’s Guadalupe Valdez, Cosme Valdez, Leonardo Valdez.

Visitation will be held at 6-8pm, April 10, 2015 with the Rosary following at 7pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Killeen, TX.
