She loved sewing, knitting, painting, gardening, and baking. She was an avid gardener and loved to plant flowers. She took great joy in watching her flowers grow and bloom. Her home was the house on the block that everyone admired. She worked with her husband at Mel's Garden Center and grew all the plants and flowers in the greenhouse until its closing in 1991. If she wasn't in her yard tending to her plants, she could be found in the kitchen baking something wonderful, whether it was her German pastries or the grandchildren's favorite chocolate chip cookies. She and Mel also enjoyed bowling in several leagues and their many trips to Las Vegas.
Ursula met her husband, Melville, in Germany while he was serving in the United States Army. They married in 1957 and began their family of five children. With her husband serving in the military and attending schools, training, and being deployed several times, Ursula spent several years raising their children on her own. Ursula missed her husband Melville every day since he passed away and the family finds comfort in knowing she is with him in heaven.
