

Walter Lee Napier, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on January 9, 1954, in Dallas, Texas. He departed this world on September 19, 2025, in Nolanville, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Walter was the cherished son of Walter Castleberry and Mamie Napier. He grew up in Dallas, where he flourished in both academics and athletics during his high school years. He distinguished himself on the Rifle Team and enjoyed playing volleyball and basketball. His leadership qualities were evident as he participated in JROTC, where he achieved the rank of Major, showcasing the dedication and discipline that would follow him throughout his life.
On January 10, 1973, Walter married the love of his life, Elizabeth Ann Chambers, in a ceremony in Dallas, Texas. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, and together they built a life filled with joy and family values.
Walter dedicated years of his life to serving his country in the United States Army. His military career began on June 25, 1976, and concluded on August 31, 1994. Over the years, he served in various locations, including Ansbach, Germany; Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Dixon, New Jersey; Fort Drum, New York; Fort Eustis, Virginia; Fort Ord, California; and Garlstedt, Germany. He was also proud to serve during Desert Storm. During his time in the Army he earned the rank of Sergeant and received the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) for his exemplary service.
Walter was a man of many interests. He found joy in listening to music, playing cards with friends and family, and cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys. His warm spirit and infectious laughter could brighten any room, and he will be remembered for his ability to bring people together.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth A. Napier; his children, Edmund L. Napier, and Latoya C. Napier; his grandchildren, Shawon A. Napier, Juron L. Napier, Elyssa Napier, Sierra E. Holland, Sidney Holland Jr., and Jeremiah D. Moesley; and his great granddaughter Nalani E. Mills. Each of them carries a piece of Walter in their hearts, forever inspired by his unwavering love and guidance.
Walter Lee Napier will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, service, and laughter will continue to resonate in the lives of his family and friends.
A Visitation for Walter will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, Texas 76542. A Funeral Service will occur Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, followed by a Committal Service with Full Military Honors from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas 76542.
