Willie Denise Hernandez

Willie Denise Hernandez transitioned into eternity after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the age of 62. Denise was born on October 21, 1954 to Alfred and Evelyn Landers in Stephenville, TX. She graduated from Stephenville High School in 1973 and then earned a degree in Business Administration from Tarleton State University in 1977. Denise met her future husband, Edmundo Hernandez of Puerto Rico, while working on Ft. Hood where Edmundo was stationed and serving in the U.S. Army.

While married, they raised 3 sons who went on to pursue careers in the U.S. Air Force and Full-Time Ministry. Denise was an active member and elder at Grace Christian Center in Killeen, TX since 1986. She took pleasure in serving in a plethora of ministries at Grace, to include: Women’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Grace Christian Academy, Grace Meals, Empower Classes and Prayer Team. Denise had a passion and zest for life and enjoyed: shopping, listening to worship music, gardening, mentoring, praying and spending quality time with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by: her father, Alfred Landers; mother, Evelyn Landers; and brother, Phil Landers. Denise is lovingly remembered by: her husband, Edmundo Hernandez; son, Carlos Hernandez and his wife, Tobie Hernandez; son, Andre Hernandez; son, Emmanuel Hernandez; her sister, Venita Lynn Stafford; brother, Justin Landers and his wife, Teresa Landers; granddaughter, Tiera Neubig; grandson, Carlos Hernandez II and a host of extended family and close friends.

A time of visitation will be Sunday, June 25, 2016 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen, funeral service will be Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Grace Christian Center with Senior Pastor Mark Price officiating. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
