AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Wilmer Eugene Jackson

13 novembre 1940 – 11 septembre 2022
AUX SOINS DE

Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home

Retired Master Sgt. Wilmer E. “Gene” Jackson, 81, of Killeen, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022. He was a resident of Killeen for over 40 years. Born in Gad, West Virginia on November 13, 1940, Gene was the son of Wilmer and Beulah Jackson. Gene served in the U.S. Army for 20 years as a chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) specialist and an artillery soldier. His service included two tours to Vietnam during the war. After retiring from the military, he went on to a second career as a government civil servant working in logistics at Ft. Hood in Texas. He retired from his second career in the mid-1990s. While stationed in France, he met the love of his life, Daniele, and they were married soon after. They were together for 49 years, traveling the world with their three young children. While in Germany, they enjoyed participating in Volksmarches as a family and earned numerous medals, which they hung proudly in their home. They also cherished the times they spent in West Virginia and France visiting family and friends. Gene will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of hunting and fishing, dedication to his country, and his huge smile, which could light up a room.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his beloved wife, Daniele, his sister, Mertie, and his brother, Okey.

He is survived by his sons, Wilmer, Patrick, and Phillip and their spouses, his 7 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Janie, Charles, and Eva and their spouses.

All services for Mr.Jackson will be held privately for the family.

In lieu of flowers, Gene’s family would appreciate donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in his honor.
