Alan Ray Stalnaker, also known as Al, was a devoted family man, proud U.S. Army veteran, and lifelong LSU Tigers fan, passed away unexpectedly in Galveston, Texas, on April 25, 2025, at the age of 77.
Al was born on February 21, 1948 in Marlinton, West Virginia, married Emelyn C. Stalnaker, from New Orleans, Louisiana on December 27, 1970, and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1971, followed by commissioning into U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant active duty. Al proudly served his country, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves, retiring in 1991. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline that carried over into every chapter of his life. Al’s civilian career spanned 20 years in pharmaceutical sales, first as sales representative then district manager, retiring in Kingwood in 2006.
Al and his family moved to Kingwood in 1985 and joined the Strawbridge United Methodist Church. He taught Sunday School with his wife and was an usher for many years.
Beginning of SEC football season Al raised the LSU flag in his yard proudly.
He is survived and missed by his loving wife, Emelyn, with whom he shared 55 years of partnership and love. He also leaves behind two devoted daughters, Karrie and Kristin, who were the pride and joy of his life.
A Celebration of Life and Reception, with lite bites, will be held to honor his life and service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to veterans’ organizations or to LSU’s scholarship fund in Alan’s memory.
