To my dearest Lana,

I still remember every afternoon we'll go outside the gate and just run around. When your Auntie Aya's away to go to school I'll be the one carrying you while you sleep in my arms or you'll be lying on your stroller and watch the birds or trees outside til you fall asleep. I'll never forget those days, you taught me to be patient and to fight. Thank you for all the kisses, hugs and most especially the memories. You are home now in the best place you can possibly be -- where you are pain free. Rest easy Lan, we love you sooooo much

  To My Dearest Niece Allanah, 

       I am sorry it took me so long to write this letter to you, It pains me so much knowing you won't be with here us anymore, knowing you will never have the chance to see your cousins and spend celebrations with us. Lan, as I saw you this morning thru the call, I saw peace, I saw pure love, I saw an angel laid to rest.  You are one beautiful memory we will forever cherish and celebrate. We love you so much Lan. When she underwent brain surgery here in Cebu to put in place the shunt, she was barely 2 years old at that time and underweight. That was her first major battle and she conquered it with flying colors.
Upon exiting the recovery room during that operation as she was being carried by my wife. Her very first words were a big "HI" to all the nurses and staff in the area. Most of them if not all were teary eyed with her fighting spirit.
Lana was entrusted to us for healing her health condition but in the process I was the one who was healed of my addiction to nicotine. I used to consume at my peak 1 pack or 20 sticks of cigarettes per day, and I was a smoker since my first year in college way back in 1980. So that makes it 34 years of smoking that was totally stopped until now. For this healing, I am forever grateful to our ANGEL WARRIOR. I may have lost a grandchild, but I and the family have gained  an ANGEL.
REST WELL OUR LANA, WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH. WE WILL  ALL BE TOGETHER IN TIME.

Allanah or "lan" as she was fondly called here in  Cebu, came into our life on the night of July 2014. The exact date I cannot recall but I remember clearly that night I fetched them from the airport  with her mom, my daughter Anlo. 
She was about a year and 8 months old at that time, and upon seeing her I was swept with mixed emotions consisting of happiness, pity, sadness for she was really frail and underweight. During that time she was not yet diagnosed with cancer.
She sat on my lap while I was driving the car from the airport to the house in Capitol, and the whole time she enjoyed the ride and was really a carefree child despite her health condition.
The following months that she was with us was a roller coaster ride of emotions and the continuous struggle to feed her as she has no appetite and her main nutrition was coming from a feeding pump.
There were good days though when I was able to bring her to the grocery store and she would just say "HI" to  total strangers that happens to cross our path. 
Her outgoing and friendly disposition is without a doubt her natural gift from our creator. She gained quite a following among the nurses and doctors during her confinement in the hospital as her friendliness and courage was no match for the big C.


Rest in peace beautiful Allannah. 😘🙏 Zana will surely miss playing with you. 

My most sincere condolences to the Datan/ Patangan Family. Allannah will be deeply missed at Oakley Elementary. She was such a sweet girl and I enjoyed every encounter I had with her. All those who provided her support here at her campus were forever changed because of her. May she rest in eternal peace.

I can still vividly remember how you always want to have your NGT feedings outside and walk around while being carried. Lan, I regret every chance I didn’t take to do your feedings. I wish I was already a nursing student back when you were still here in the Philippines so that I could have an in-depth understanding of what you were going through and how precious your time was. I remember the days when I would always look out for you and protect you from teases because I didn’t want you to cry. I will hold all our memories together close to my heart. Auntie studied hard and on time, with the dream of spoiling all her nieces and nephews and giving them everything. It pains me that time isn’t on our side. It pains me that I didn’t finish going to school twice as early and enough to catch up with the time God gave you to be here on earth. Despite the pain, it brings me peace and happiness that you can live your life with God and, most of all, without pain now. Until we meet again. We love you and miss you beyond measure, Lan. Rest easy, our sweet angel. ♥️

Heaven has gained a special angel when you left us. 
Thank you for spending the last 10 years with us. You have blessed us with your presence and we will forever treasure those moments. We have seen your frail body go through so much and we saw how hard you fought and at the same time you somehow also comforted us by showing us courage and strength, you never complained . We will always remember your sweet and cheerful disposition .. you were always ready with your smile and your Hi!  We are comforted by the fact that you are not in pain anymore. It is just hard knowing we cannot hug you but I know you are with us in spirit. We just miss you so much. Please watch over all of us as who loved you so much specially your Mommy Anlo and Daddy Raffy and your siblings Ana and Skye  . In times like these , we always hear the phrase.. everything happens for a reason. I believe God had a plan for you and he blessed us with your presence in our lives.
