Barbara Ann Buckow

Barbara Buckow, a native Houstonian age 80, passed away on July 1, 2015 as a result of cancer. She is predeceased by her parents Emmett and Jessie Ballard and her husband of 55 years George. She is survived by two daughters: Shana Hogan and Lisa Price and her husband David, grandson Trey Hogan and granddaughter Hannah Price, Sister Shirley Eggleston and her husband Alvin, sisters-in-law Jane Turner and Barbara Schmid and her husband Bob, numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Barbara graduated from Milby High School and then received her degree in Health and Physical Education from Sam Houston State and her Masters in education from Stephen F. Austin. She taught Health and Physical Education for 38 years; 11 in Houston ISD and after the family moved to Humble, she taught for 27 years at Humble Middle School and substituted for 8 more years.

She was devoted to her family and they were always her first priority. She and George enjoyed entertaining and traveling and Barbara loved to dance.

The family would like to thank the wonderful hospice care our Mom received at home by Carolyn, Denise and her staff. They would also like to thank Dr. Garth Beinhart and his staff. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339. There will be a reception to follow.
