Barbara Ellen Mason

Barbara Ellen Myers Mason, 91, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012 in Bluffton, SC. Barbara was born to parents Michael A. and Evelyn Malboeuf Myers on April 29, 1921 in Worcester, MA, where she grew up among family and friends. In 1943, Barbara married her loving husband of 62 years, Francis Edward Mason, Jr. Together, they later moved to New Fairfield, CT, where they spent the next 40 years. While living there, Barbara worked as the church secretary for St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church. She was also very active with the Ladies Guild at the church. Mr. and Mrs. Mason spent the next 12 years in Kingwood, TX where she was an active parishioner of St. Martha Catholic Church and a faithful volunteer at Kingwood Medical Center. She also spent time in Buffalo, NY, before most recently residing in Bluffton, SC. Barbara’s hobbies were knitting, traveling and most of all, being a loving Nana.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Francis. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Fitzgerald and husband Brian of Kingwood, TX, Maureen Bullard and husband Robert of Bluffton, SC; grandchildren, Meghan Nimmo and husband Stephen, Daniel Fitzgerald, Jessica Bullard and Alex Hess, Bradley Bullard; great-grandchildren, Mason Alexander Hess, Kate Addison Nimmo.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Carolina House of Bluffton, for the kindness and care they provided to Mrs. Mason.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2012 at St. Martha Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Pkwy., Porter, TX 77365. A Rite of Committal will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veteran’s Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.
