Dane Marshall McAnally, Sr was born September 19, 1957 to Geneva Evans and Edward McAnally. Dane was born in Chinon, France where Ed, a member of the US military, was stationed. Dane lived in France for the first nine months of his life before returning to the States. Though Dane was born abroad, he was a true Texan and a devout patriot.
Dane’s family lived in Jacksonville, Texas near his paternal grandparents for eight years where he excelled in track, before moving to Houston where he met his life-long friend Wayne Clements.
Dane was the fourth of six children: a brother and four sisters, whom he loved dearly. Dane was to know great loss throughout his life as he lost one sibling after another until only he and sister Tana remained in the later years.
At the age of 17, Dane joined the army for a short period, after which he returned to Texas and began the education and training that would provide the basis for his career as an expert mechanic. He made ventures into real estate holdings which he greatly enjoyed, later in retirement.
Dane was married to Lillian Schilling for 34 years and was blessed with four children, Tenecia or “TC”, Dane Jr., Jared and Cole. Tragically, Dane would lose his daughter TC in 2014. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Taryn 17, Layla 15, Colin 6, and Emma 2.
Dane and his loving life partner, Melissa shared thirteen wonderful years together with Dane becoming a cherished part of the large Redd Family.
Dane loved his motorcycle and his Corvette. He loved playing golf, snow skiing and tubing down a river. He loved baseball, though not always the Astros. He loved his many friends, his children, grandchildren and his soulmate. Dane loved life.
On March 2, 2022 at the age of 64, Dane lost his three-year battle with cancer. He never gave up hope and he faced every day with humor, courage and optimism. His faith and dependence on God gave him strength. He was a kind, generous and beautiful man, both inside and out.
Dane is predeceased by his mother and father; his brother, Eddie Jr.; sisters: Rayanne, Stephanie and Kelly; and his daughter TC.
He is survived by his sister Tana, sons: Dane Jr. (Bubba), Jared and Derek Cole. Grandchildren: Taryn, Layla, Colin and Emma; daughter-in-law Erin, many aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces, cousins and other relatives; and by his beloved Melissa.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingwood Funeral Home on Saturday, April 23, 2022, beginning at noon.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Dane’s name to the Tunnel to Towers organization.
