DORIS WATTERS DOUTHIT, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Born on October 10, 1929 in Ada, Oklahoma, Doris was the youngest child of James Boyd and Georgia Lee Watters. Having been called to missions at an early age, she served alongside her husband as a missionary in South Korea during the 1960’s and 70’s. Her ministry to the Korean community continued at South Main Baptist Church including 33 years with the SMILE program.
She is dearly loved by her husband of 60 years, Dr. TE Douthit, Jr., her 5 children and their spouses, 21 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Doris is remembered for her servant’s heart, her selfless devotion to the Lord, to her children and grandchildren, and most of all, to her beloved husband, Gene.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010. Doris will be interred at Kingwood Presbyterian Church, Kingwood, Texas.
