Deedy was born June 20, 1933, in Atlanta, Georgia. Her family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she lived until she was 14, before returning to Atlanta. After graduating from North Fulton High School, she earned her certificate in Interior Decorating from the Atlanta Art Institute. Deedy married Colin Anderson in 1955. They moved to Houston in 1968 and spent their happiest years raising their two sons and daughter, while travelling the world through Colin’s business. Colin and Deedy were happily married for 36 years until he passed away in 1991.
Deedy loved her old movies, listening to Frank Sinatra, gardening, a good hand of bridge and a game or two of solitaire in the afternoon. More than anything, she cherished her family, her friends, and her church. She used her Interior Decorating certificate to start an interior decorating business, Consult Us Interiors, in West Houston with two of her dearest friends, Maryanne Evans and Ava Noble. Later in life, Deedy started an antique business, … a passion she shared with her daughter Deeni. She spent the last years of her life helping others through her volunteer work with the Northwest Assistance Ministries, along with her friend Marty Williams, and with the Society of St. Stephen.
Deedy will be remembered for her generosity, her kind heart, and her love of family. She is survived by her daughter, Deeni, of Kingwood, her son Andy, of Kansas City, her son Chet and wife Debbie, of Kingwood, their children, Heather, Justin, and Cole, and her five great grandchildren.
In remembrance of Deedy’s life, her family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Heart Association.
Services for Deedy will be held later this year.
