On February 28, 2024, Evelyn (Evey) Bree, age 95, passed away peacefully at home in Kingwood, Texas. Evelyn was born and raised in Queens, New York, the second daughter of Joseph and Edna Giacolone. In 1946 she was swept off her feet by a charming co-worker, returning WW II Army Airman, John P. Bree. Two years later, the couple married and were blessed with a long, loving life together. Evelyn and John lived on Long Island, NY and, after retirement, moved to Hendersonville, North Carolina where they enjoyed life at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Later they moved to Kingwood, TX to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, John. She leaves behind her sister Joan Powers; her three children: Karen Dunne, Janis Cramer, and John Bree; seven Grandchildren: Kelly Hamilton, Joseph Wahl, Tami Campbell, Patrick Dunne, John Bree, Ryan Dunne and Justin Bree; 21 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. Evelyn cherished her family, friends, and neighbors, always offering her help, support, and advice (sometimes even if it wasn’t asked for). She always enjoyed a robust social life balanced with quality time spent with her family and friends. She relished her time in North Carolina being a part of the Gem Society and handling social events for her River Oaks community and her church. In Kingwood, she took great pleasure being the resident Ambassador at Cypress Woods Senior Living apartments aiding new residents and coordinating social events for all to enjoy. Evelyn will be missed by the family and most remembered by all those whose lives were touched by her love and friendship.
