Harold Ray Fahrenthold

Harold Ray (Rick) Fahrenthold passed away on September 16, 2016. He was born in Bay City, Texas on October 9, 1944 to Letha Royal and Arthur Earl Fahrenthold. He was preceded in death by his Parents, and his Sister, Gladys Sowa.

Left to Cherish Rick's memory are his wife of 49 years, Margaret; daughter, Kris (Daniel); son, Richie (Trisha); grandchildren - Ian, Haden, Wesley, Angelo, and Alena. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mark Fisher, Carol and Donnie Havemann, Margaret Leubner, Pat and Larry Chmiel, and Tony McClosky; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, and loving friends.

Rick graduated from Galena Park High school in 1963 and from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1966 with a major in History/Political Science and later a Master's Degree in Administration. He taught Geography, History, Economics, and Civics. He was an Assistant Principal and a Principal at Smiley High School before becoming a State Farm insurance agent. He retired to become a full time "Papa" in 2010.

Rick was a member of St. Martha's Catholic Church in Kingwood and for many years he served in the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Ministry.He volunteered for the Forest Cove Swim Team, serving as a stroke and turn judge and starter. He also volunteered for the HLSR Livestock Committee and was a member of the Lions Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was passionate about baseball and football, current on all the stats, and could give background information on any upcoming athlete. He loved playing video games with his grandson, Haden. Rick had a very distinctive laugh. His faculty and students alike said they always knew where Mr. Fahrenthold was because of his laugh.

Funeral Mass 10:00 Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at St. Martha’s Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter 77365.

Interment at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023 Kevin Chmiel, Darrell Havemann, Darren Havemann, Jeffrey Leubner, Andrew Sowa, Matthew Sowa, Michael Sowa, and Mitchell Sowa serving as Pallbearers.
