She was born on October 19, 1940, in Austin, and grew up in Houston. She loved to collect beanie babies, coins and antiques. She was a remarkable seamstress; she loved to cook and collect recipes, and she also loved to dance.
She also loved to spend time with her first cousin, Vernie. Vernie was the sister she never had. They were always there for each other and had seen each other through the worst of times and the best of times. They had a true sisterhood that never wavered. As they got older, when they could not spend as much time together, they were always talking on the phone and sending each other cards in the mail. Vernie was her ROCK, and Hazel loved her dearly.
She worked for several years in a family-owned furniture store, and she also owned several businesses of her own. However, she spent the bulk of her career in the insurance industry selling pre-arranged funerals. She was well known throughout the insurance industry, and she won several awards for being the top saleswomen for many years in a row. She took pride in providing her clients, who often became friends with the best customer service. She remained friends with her past clients over the years and was often a referral favorite with the funeral homes she worked with.
She is preceded in death by her parents Martha and Alge Spinks, son Paul Bryan McMillan, and brother and sister-in-law Woody and Linda Spinks.
She is survived by two sons, Darrell White (Maxine), and Caley Boudreaux (Teresa) and daughter-in-law Lisa McMillan. Nine grandchildren, Michele Markham (Mike), Shaina Reeves, Paul McMillan, Michael Brownlee, Robbie McMillan, Katie Unruh (Jason), Caley Boudreaux, Jr., Adrianne Boudreaux, and Chance Boudreaux. Twelve Great grandchildren; Billy Warren, Micha Brooks (Michelle), Kaleb Phillips, Dylan Phillips, Ayden Yudel, Victoria Reeves, Wyatt Campbell, Cam Brownlee, Chloe Brownlee, Cole Speck, Emeline Unruh, and Harlow Unruh, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on February 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Kingwood Funeral Home. With a graveside service to follow for those who would like to attend.”
