It is obvious we were fortunate to have such a fine man in our lives, I know Jeff will continue to watch over each of us. My heart goes out especially to Mom and his girls. I know it doesn't seem fair because it was so sudden. I pray God give you the strength and courage to move forward in His grace. I am hopeful, grateful memories will survive this time of sorrow. I trust thoughts of Dad, Father, and Papa will remind us all how to live. I am most thankful he was able to meet his grandaughter. She spent her first few hours, back at home last night, talking about Papa and showing off Jeff's picture. Quillan made "Papa" sound like an epic tale. I know Dad is watching over us and I can sense his pride.

I was saddened by the news of your familys loss. sudden loss is always tragic and can find it difficult to accept. I share in your grief and hope that time will heal your pain.

We were deeply saddened to hear about the death of  Mr Jeffrey William Close.

We know how difficult this must be for the family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Jeff was a complete professional. He was always willing to assist and discuss any problems at our plant in St Kitts.

We had lots of fond memories working with Jeff especially during our many never ending crises at the power plant such as after the 2008 fire when Jeff worked long hours to help restore power to the island.

We would miss Jeff. His cool assurance and his ability to make even the most demanding situation look simple.

The Power Industry especially in the Caribbean and here in St Kitts were fourtunate to have worked with a true professional.

To all of you in Kingwood Texas. We send our very best wishes. Words cannot express the sudden loss that you all face.   As a family we have been talking and fondly thinking of Jeff especially since we spoke to you Julie on Xmas Eve.  Robert has lots of happy memories from a small boy of 3 or 4 when they would go out to the seaside for the week together to Bispham (near Blackpool) and there are photos of them holding hands as evidence, to DIY and boys ideas to partners in sharing a few beverages of the alcoholic nature.  Robert in particular, remembers Jeff and himself on a Friday. They made a bonfire with a metal tin and cooked some sausages.  That seems no problem except Alastair the sampler of the goods was only allowed fish on Fridays, so they were in trouble, but, it was Robert's fault not Jeffrey's as Robert had bought the sausages. 
Both of them left Marple to go their own ways with careers but, still kept in contact even though it is just over 5 years since we last saw you all in England.  When we did meet it was like time had just disappeared.  Robert and Jeff have known each other for 50 years.  There is a perfect photo of Jeffrey and Robert which made us all smile.  The good ideas, with Robert in the wheelbarrow and Jeff in charge of transport, pushing, steering and leading the way to their next adventure.  Even the background is a treasure trove of fun for boys.
We have ordered some flowers to represent us as we are unable to come.  We send our love and best wishes to you all and will think of you UK time tomorrow at 8 pm. I hope the enclosed poem brings you some comfort.  Best Wishes and Our Love Barbara, Robert, John, Ian, Craig and Danielle X

Dear Julia and family
I was so saddened to hear that Jeff had passed away and at such a young age. He was one of my first apprentices when I became the Training Officer at Mirrlees Blackstone.
Whilst we didn't keep in regular contact, I was always pleased to hear about his progress and latest adventures.
I am still in contact with a lot of "Mirrlees" people both at the works and via the Anson Engine Museum, where I am a volunteer. We will all miss him, he was a great character and an outstanding engineer - one of the lads!

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to you and family over the passing of your husband. I am from Doiminca and the one that would pick-up your husband every morning  and safely drive him  back to the hotel.The last afternoon I took him to the hotel he spoke of how eager he was to finish the work before 18th December 2011 and  to be back home to take a tour with his Family. He left with his family at heart. His last words to me,"See you in the morning."

I would like to extend my deepest sympathies and that of the rest of the team here in Dominica to the close family.
Jefferey's passing no doubt was and is a shock to you as much as it was to us. May God's blessing shine on you in this moment of grief.
He will be greatly missed by us.

It was a privilege to have known and worked with Jeff. A straight talking, no nonsense, completely reliable, typical North of England lad. My favorite story about Jeff is when the Prime Minister of St. Kitts, the Right Honorable Denzil Douglas needed the lights on so he could win the election in 7 days time, it was Jeff Close that immediately flew down, headed straight to the power plant from the airport and had the the whole island electrical system back up in a few hours. Jeff will be sorely missed throughout the Caribbean.     My deepest condolences to his family.
