Kathy was born in Buffalo, New York on January 6, 1942, the youngest child of Edward and Ada Wood. She graduated from North Collins High School in the Spring of 1960. She and Dick met a short time later, falling madly in love and marrying January 27, 1962. Soon after, Dick and Kathy had two children, Darrell and Dana. They enjoyed life while making many life-long friends. Early in 1978, Kathy and Dick uprooted and headed to Texas. Once in Houston, Kathy landed a job at Texas Instruments where she worked until moving Kingwood, Texas in 1993. Kathy then became the secretary to the Chief of Police at Humble PD, where she worked until retirement in 2003.
While Kathy did enjoy working, she found her greatest joy spending time with Dick and being a wonderful mother and grandmother (Nana). She loved hosting family dinners, holiday parties, and birthday parties. She poured her life and her love to everybody she knew, always making sure everyone felt welcome and loved. Kathy was the definition of a Proverbs 31 wife and mother.
Kathy enjoyed sharing her love of Christ in prayer and song. Her dedication and involvement in the Second Baptist Church Choir was her passion and she did it with love and pure happiness. Even after she lost her ability to drive, Dick would take her to choir practices weekly and she was a fixture at regular and holiday services. She was blessed to join the choir on an amazing trip to Prague in the Czech Republic and she is even on one of the church’s published Christmas albums.
For many years, Kathy and Dick donated much of their time working at The Mission, helping to provide food and clothing, and building relationships with those less fortunate. Kathy will forever live in the hearts of those she touched, following the example of the unconditional love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Survivors include her brother, Edward Wood of East Concord, children, Darrell Dudczak (Laurie) of Conroe, Dana Ballou (Tom) of Kingwood, and grandchildren Ryan Ballou, Michael Dudczak, Colin Gonzales, Sydney Ballou, Ethan Ramey, Alex Ballou, and Kara Dudczak.
She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Ada Wood, her sisters Phyllis Olsen and Mary Newbold, and the love of her life, Dick Dudczak.
