Dr. Reuben Lotan was born to Isaac and Sarah Lotringer on March 19, 1946 in Uzbekistan. He grew up in Israel and moved to Houston in 1984. Reuben passed away peacefully on August 2, 2011 surrounded by loved ones. Reuben was a well-respected scientist in the field of thoracic and head and neck cancer research at M.D. Anderson in Houston, Texas. He made great contributions both through his work and through his mentorship of numerous graduate students and post-doctorates. He worked at M.D. Anderson for 26 years before retiring last year. Throughout his life, Reuben found his greatest joys came from the time he spent with his family and friends. Reuben is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Dafna, his three sons, Ori, Yair and Dan, and seven grandchildren. Although he will be deeply missed by friends and family, his memory will live on in our hearts.
The family will be paying their respects privately. In the place of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations be made to cancer research.
