Rodney Glen Bullinger

A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Rodney Bullinger, 66, of Kingwood Texas, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2013 with his family present. He was born January 26, 1947 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and resided in Kingwood, Texas for the past 19 years.

A graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla (now the Missouri University of Science and Technology) in 1970 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Rodney was proud of his work for Gulf Oil, then later Chevron and Chevron Philips during his 41 year career.

Rodney was characterized best by his faith and his devotion to family. You could find him singing bass in the church choir on Sunday mornings. His great joy was his grandchildren and although a man of few words he led by stature and example.

Rodney served as deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana and Paoli Baptist Church in Paoli, Pennsylvania.

He is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Joetta Wood Bullinger; daughter Marlo Kurz and husband Scott of Ladera Ranch, California; daughter Hadra Garraty and husband Mark of Montgomery, Texas; daughter Kara Stracener and husband Jeff of San Antonio Texas; grandsons Khan, Louis, Owen, Theo, Hudson, Jack, Drew, and Cooper; granddaughter Avery; mother Pauline Bullinger of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; sister Janet Hurst of Marble Hill, Missouri; and brother Andy Bullinger of Cape Girardeau Missouri. His father, Andrew Bullinger, preceded him in death.

A visitation will take place on Monday, August 19, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Kingwood First Baptist, 3500 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood, Texas 77339. Rodney will then be laid to rest at Rosewood Cemetery, 2602 South Houston Avenue, Humble, Texas 77396, following his funeral service.
