Ronald Clifford Lager died unexpectedly on April 22, 2023, at his home away from home, camping on Toledo Bend in Many, LA. He was 79 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death, yet grateful he was able to pass into God’s hands doing what he loved most.
Ron is survived and missed by his loving wife Linda Ritter Lager of 31 years; and his son, Dan Lager, daughter Claudia Lager Sears, step-children Ronnie Isbel, Steven Isbel and Jenny Williams.
Grandchildren: Travis Lager, Chuck Lager and Danielle Lager, Jessica Sears Ureke, Zachary and Chelsea Sears. Step Grandchildren: Kendall Wayne Isbel (deceased), Steven J Isbel, Ashton, Payton, Cameron and Jaydon Williams, Ashly and Katie Isbel. Ron had many great grand-children in Missouri. He is also survived by his three siblings, Donald Lager and wife Pam, Jerry Lager and wife Dawn, and Margie Braddy and husband Virgil.
Born in Missoula, MT in 1943 to Clifford and Esther Lager. The Lager family settled in Victorville CA where the family owned the Maytag Appliance store for many years. Ronald graduated Victor Valley High School in 1962, and married Barbara Morrow.
Ron attended classes at Riverside and Victorville colleges, and after a few years in the family business, Ron ventured into a long career with Montgomery Ward. As the manager of the catalog and appliance repair store, the Montgomery Ward store on 7th street was a Victorville icon.
Promoted to Regional Repair Manager, Ron and family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri for a few years, and promoted to Area Manager and settled in Houston, Texas. Ron and Barbara later divorced, and he married Linda Ritter Isbel in 1992.
Ron spent many years traveling the great state of Texas opening and organizing regional repair locations for Montgomery Ward as an Area Manager. After a 25 year career, Montgomery Ward closed down their repair centers. Never one to be kept down, Ron embraced his next passion and opened his own computer sales and repair shop, PC Parts & Service. The computer repair business was in full swing for many years, until Ron finally “retired” and sold his business. Retirement gave him more opportunity to do what he really loved most, tinkering around the house, researching family history, barbecuing for family, camping and, most of all, relaxing in his hot tub listening to country music!
After beating a double whammy illness in 2013, Hydrocephalus and stage 4 throat cancer, Ron roared back into retired life. He was able to enjoy another ten wonderful years camping and traveling with family and friends in the RV. His most recent adventures included four wheeling with his brothers in Utah and attending his 60th high school reunion with lifelong friends Johnny and Donna Payne. He was able to see grandchildren off to college and other adult adventures, and loved assisting in any way he could. Ron always had a helping hand and good advice. He will always be loved and missed.
Ron was cremated in Many, LA and will be interred with his loving wife Linda upon her death. Memorial services will be held at the Kingwood Funeral Home on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 2 PM with visitation at 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ron’s name to the following: Charles Mains, Mt. Zion Baptist Cemetery Fund, 1982 Marthaville Rd., Many, Louisiana 71449
