

Shah A Quaiyoom, an inspirational and beloved figure, passed away on August 31, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on January 31, 1933, in Ghosh Pukur, India, Shah was known for his hard-working nature, resilience, and selfless spirit. A wise and thoughtful man, he was also patient, making a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Shah's early life was marked by a strong dedication to education. He attended high school at Hooghly Collegiate School and went on to study at University of Calcutta where he earned a B.S. in chemical engineering. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Manchester University in the UK, where he graduated with a Master of Science degree in 1959. In 1960, Shah moved to Mexico City and eventually settled in the USA in 1978.
A renowned sugarcane technologist, Shah worked for Mazer Chemicals and successfully opened businesses in 56 countries. In 1990, he founded Qemi International and Nova-Tech International, retiring in 2019 after a distinguished career.
In 1961, while working in Mexico City, Shah met the love of his life, Emilia Miranda. They married on February 7, 1962, after a brief six-month courtship and shared 47 wonderful years together until her passing in 2009. Their union was blessed with two children, Shah Quaiyoom, Jr., who married Belinda, and Sherina Quaiyoom Anderson, who married Kent. The family moved to Chicago in 1978 and later relocated to Kingwood, Texas, in 1991.
Shah was a proud grandfather to Brandon (Sarah), Blake (Rebecca), Melissa, and Marc (Maggie), and a doting great-grandfather to Ella Jo, Cooper, Vincent, and Wilhelmina.
A global traveler with a passion for meeting people, Shah was very social and cherished his role as the Olympic Attache and honorary consul for Pakistan at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. His vibrant life included encounters with notable figures such as Elvis, George Harrison, and Mother Teresa.
Shah A Quaiyoom's legacy is one of inspiration, wisdom, and love, leaving behind a family and community that will forever cherish his memory.

A celebration of life will be held on September 27, 2025 at 2 pm at Fountainwood at Lake Houston, 17990 W. Lake Houston Parkway, Atascocita, Texas 77346. If you chose to send flowers please have them delivered to Fountainwood.
