Thomas attended Del Rio High School and furthered his education at Texas A&M and the University of Houston. He served in the Navy from 1958 to 1962, embodying a spirit of dedication and service. Following his military service, Thomas worked as a research technician for Exxon for over 30 years, where he was known for his commitment and expertise.
He was married to Carol T Asher for 58 years, sharing a life filled with love and companionship. Thomas was a devoted family man, survived by his daughter Debbie Jones and son-in-law Chris, his son David Asher and fiance' Shay Melancon, his grandchildren Christopher Jones (Heather Kelemencky), Jake Asher, Brody Asher, Ty Asher, and Rachel Pflueger (Devin), and his great-grandchildren Huck Pflueger, Piper Simmons, Liam Kelemencky and a new great grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol.
Thomas had a passion for reading, bird watching, and gardening, pursuits that brought him joy and peace throughout his life.
A visitation will be held at Kingwood Funeral Home, located at 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, TX 77339, on September 15, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. This will be followed by a funeral service and reception at the same location starting at 1:00 pm. Thomas will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery, at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston at a later date.
Serving as pallbearers will be Devin Pflueger, Christopher Jones, Jake Asher, Brody Asher, and Ty Asher. Huck Pflueger will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
