Teressa Tobin Johnson (Tracy) left us peacefully on September 16, surrounded by family and friends, after a prolonged and courageous battle with triple negative breast cancer. Tracy was born on August 29, 1964, in Charlottesville, Virginia, and moved with her family to Abilene, Texas in 1969. She graduated from Cooper High School where she excelled at varsity tennis. In 1982 Tracy entered Tulane University becoming a member of Chi Omega sorority and The Rose of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. It was also at Tulane that Tracy met the love of her life, Gerald Johnson III, also known as Tracy. “The Tracys” were an inseparable couple who shared not only a name, but a wonderful life together for 24 years.
After graduation, Tracy went to work as a flight attendant for American Airlines. She was stationed in both New York and Dallas and retired after 15 years of service. Tracy and Tracy were married on a cliff over-looking the Caribbean in St. Thomas and 1990 and they started their life together in New Orleans. A few years later they moved to Houston and to Kingwood, Texas where she resided until the time of her death.
Tracy was the consummate volunteer and community servant and her positions and committees would fill several pages. Her greatest joy, however, and the catalyst for her steadfast involvement were her children. Tracy’s family was the center of her universe and their love and support helped her to fight to the end.
Tracy is survived by her husband, Tracy, and their three children: son, Tobin Daniel (13) and twin daughters Abigail Carolyn and Madeleine Jewel (11). She also leaves her parents Howard Allen Tobin, M.D., and Gail Preusse Tobin of Abilene, Texas; her brother, Evan Tobin, M.D., his wife Christa and their two children Sophie and Noah of Columbus, Ohio; and her sister Jill Tobin Rosson, her husband Rob and daughter Hannah of Dallas, Texas. Tracy also leaves behind her beloved kitty, Spats, who kept her company for 21 years. In addition Tracy leaves behind her in-laws, Gerald and Carolyn Johnson of DeRidder, Louisiana; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lydia and Danny Chong of Kingwood, Texas and nieces Carly, Gracie and Anna; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Emily and Adam Bauserman of Atascocita, Texas , nephew Will and niece Harper. In addition to her family Tracy will be missed by numerous wonderful friends and co-volunteers who stood by and supported her through every phase of her illness.
Tracy was an active member of Temple Beth Torah in Humble, Texas, where she held officer positions and taught Sunday school.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 20, at Kingwood Funeral Home with internment to follow at Rosewood Cemetery.
