Virginia McDuff Gandy

Virginia grew up in Baton Rouge and graduated from University High School in 1973. She attended LSU and began her professional career in health claims management and became the audit training director at the State of Louisiana Group Benefits Program. After moving to Kingwood, Tx in 1984 with her family she focused on the many opportunities to volunteer her talents. She was a member of Strawbridge United Methodist Church and served as a Stephen Minister. She served on the Board of Directors of Mothers Against Cancer and spent many years serving that organization. She also served as a Director of Project Graduation at Kingwood High School.

She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Mary Crosby McDuff and Kenneth David McDuff, Sr., brother, Charles Howell McDuff, and father-in-law, John D. Gandy, Jr.

Virginia is survived by husband, John D. Gandy III; son, John D. Gandy IV; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Gandy; sisters, Mary Ann McDuff, Jane McDuff Williston and husband Charles; brother, Kenneth David McDuff, Jr. and wife Teresa; sister, Susan McDuff Fontenot and husband Wendell; brother, Michael Brian McDuff and wife Ann; mother-in-law, Virginia Tucker Gandy; sisters-in-law, Jackie Gandy Brown and husband Paul and Jane Gandy Lyall and husband Michael; aunt-in-law, Elaine “Aunt Mimi” Umphrey; sister-in-law, Janet McDuff Pitcher and husband Greg; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins all of whom she loved with all of her heart. She is also survived by many close friends whom she also considered family.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Monday, April 2, 2012 at Kingwood Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Strawbridge United Methodist Church, Kingwood.
