Born in Brieg, Germany on October 26, 1932, she immigrated to Canada in 1964, where she later became a proud Canadian citizen.
Barbara dedicated over two decades of her life as a caring foster parent, working closely with the Family & Children’s Services of Waterloo Region. She was also an avid lifetime member of the Concordia Club, actively serving on the Ladies Aid Committee and participating in the Campers Group.
Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband, Freidrich (Fritz) Zorn (1983), her dear mother, Emma Trautmann (1982), and her sister, Hanna Trautmann (2005).
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Diana Zorn, as well as her grandson, Derek Zorn (Vanessa), and granddaughter, Christine Henry (Jake). Barbara will be fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren: Rya, Owen, Karl, Robert, and Madeline. Her niece, Regina Trautmann of Solingen, Germany, and her dear friend and companion, Otto Danner, will also cherish her memory.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the care team at Trinity Village – Walnut Grove for their exceptional care and consideration during Barbara’s final months.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to either the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society as expressions of sympathy. Cremation has already taken place. As per Barbara’s wishes, a private family memorial service will be held in her honour. Online condolences at www.westmountfuneralchapel.com
The Promised Land
Oh day of judgment, day of fear,
Will I be ready when the time draws near?
Will I be able to enter the golden gate
That Jesus promised us awaits?
Have I helped my neighbour along the way?
And did the best I could each day?
If I've succeeded in doing this,
Then maybe when the last trumpet sounds
I'll be with God
In the promised land.
