

With his loving family by his side passed away peacefully on June 27, 2011 at F.J. Davey Home, Sault Ste. Marie in his 89th year. Dear husband of the late June (nee. Thies). Loving father of Linda Bates (Ozzie) and Christine Sangster (Jeff). Cherished grandfather “Papa” of Kristin Martiniuk, Leanne Coulis, Andrew, Alyssa and Stephanie Sangster. Also survived by many great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. A veteran of WWII, Charlie served in the Navy. He was an intelligent man and, after the war, Charlie graduated from Western University with an Honours B.A in Business Administration. After working at Colgate Palmolive, Charlie furthered his career when approached by Cockfield Brown and then J. Walter Thompson in Toronto to work as their Account Executive in advertising. He then moved to Kitchener where he taught marketing and advertising at Conestoga College. Charlie was a passionate teacher and created many lifelong friendships with students and colleagues. During his time at Conestoga College, he took special interest in the hockey team and received many awards for his outstanding contributions. Charlie also loved horses and harness racing, card nights with friends, golfing, BINGO, and he was brilliant at crossword puzzles. His strength, kindness, love, and support will always be remembered. His loss brings a deep void to many lives and he will be missed dearly. On Thursday July 7, 2011, friends and family are invited to Westmount Funeral Chapel (1001 Ottawa St. 519-743-8900) for visitation 11am-1pm followed by a funeral service to begin at 1pm.
