Clifford Earl Christie

Clifford Christie was born in Kingston, Jamaica to Reuben and Enid Christie on October 20, 1935. He was the oldest of two children and his younger brother Osmond loved him dearly. He was affectionately called “Papa” by all who knew him in Jamaica. He was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 8, 2023.

In his early years in Jamaica, he attended Denham Town all age school and was granted a scholarship to Kingston Technical High School in Jamaica where he specialized in woodwork. Clifford went on to train with Gerald Burges furniture and cabinet company. He worked in this field for several years.

Clifford loved music and liked to have a good time. He enjoyed dancing, and everyone loved to see him on the dance floor. He was always the life of the party.

He later got the opportunity to study in the United Kingdom and boarded the second ship leaving Jamaica for England. While studying in England he met and fell in love with Florence. They were married in England and migrated to Canada for better career opportunities. Out of this union, they had two sons, Andrew and Howard. They were married for over sixty years.

Dearest husband to Florence Blondel Christie. Beloved father to Andrew Earl Christie and Howard Sebastian Christie (Camille). Cherished grandfather to Isabella and Teegan. Clifford will be dearly missed by his godchildren; Shanique, Marcia, Stephen, Tomika and David as well as his brother Patrick and cousin Yvonne in Jamaica. He is survived by many extended family near and far.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, May 19th from 6-9 pm at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S. Kitchener.
