Douglas William West

Beloved husband of the late Norma West (nee Merritt) for 50 years and of Jean West (nee Smith) of Winnipeg for 18 years, loving dad of Burke West and his wife Jan of McAllen Texas, Vicki Shonk and her husband Ken of Kitchener, cherished grandfather of Heather (Greg) Staines of Guelph, Tracy (Paul) Shonk-Lacey of Waterloo, Kennedy (Jennifer) West of Houston, Texas, Craig (Tracey) West of Virginia, and Kevin (Siobhan) Shonk of Baden, and proud great grandfather of 13.

Doug lived life to the fullest and enjoyed extensive travelling and many hobbies including communicating with the Ham Radio (VE3AEI then VE3HV) and participating in many varied careers. Doug owned companies in several fields including Tile and Terazzo (Midgley & West), Home Building (Douglas Construction), Shrimp Boat Owner, and TV Repair. For many years he spent time in Florida, his second home. He was a member of the Scottish Rite.

Family and friends are invited to visit and share fond memories of Doug on Sunday, July 10th, 2011 from 11 am until 12 noon at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa Street South (at Westmount Rd.), Kitchener. At 12 noon a Celebration of Doug’s life will be held, with reception to follow.
