Our deepest sympathy to Emerson’s family.  We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Uncle Emerson.  Thoughts of Emerson evoke smiles and warm feelings.  He was a true gentleman, full of wisdom, always genuine with a great sense of humour.  We will miss hearing his stories and adventures.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Emerson and all his family.

I always loved visting or being visited by "Aunt Anna" and "Uncle Em". Whenever I think of Em it will be with a smile, because he always had one on his face.

We're saddened to hear of Emerson's passing. I knew him as my Dad's life-long friend. I recall being a young boy standing in a room of grown ups and hanging off my dad's pantleg. I clearly remember looking up at this man and being intrigued by the smiles and laughter he was capable of generating in my Dad and others - quietly observing his overflowing warmth of spirit as he lit up the room. This is role model behaviour that lives on to impact that boy even today. Emerson's spirit is alive and well in the lives of the many he has touched. Thanks, Uncle Em.

Deepest sympathy and condolences to Emerson’s family and loved ones on the behalf of the students of Clarington Central Secondary School. For several years Emerson has been a faithful and  generous supporter of a peer mentoring program at CCSS called Lunch Buddies. Over the past 12 years this program has matched more than a 1,000 peer mentors with students who have developmental disabilities and Autism. Emerson was a great man who recognized the magnitude of the importance that we all have the power to make a difference if we only try. He will be missed.

Mr. MacMillan was always smiling when I'd meet him at Forest Hill United Church.  He seemed to have a wonderful, upbeat personality, too.

We will miss the adventures that your Dad got himself into whether it be learning how to use a microwave oven, using a satellite phone or just dragging himself to the cottage whether his doctor or family approved.  He was quite a guy.  Our condolences to John and family.

We were saddened to hear of Emerson's passing and to know that we'll be in the US and not able to be part of his rite of passage. I suggest you check his pockets if you need any funny material for the eulogy. There was always a joke or two there.

In the 70's he gave me my first job in education. In the 80's he was part of an honour guard at my dad's funeral. In 2005 he sent a letter to mark Sharon and my retirement from the WRDSB. She cherishes it to this day.

He taught me the components of successful leadership: warmth, engagement and humour. All of the places he will not now enter will be a little colder, darker and sadder. In heaven they are having a great time.

Our condolences to family and friends. We shall carry his positive presence with us via great memories for the rest of our lives.

So sorry we cannot be with you on Saturday to help you celebrate the life of a fine man. We enjoyed sharing Emerson's warmth and humor for many years.

Dear Family, 
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Emerson. I have been his dentist since my father retired 15 years ago, and in that time, he has truly been one of my favourite patients. We have always shared many laughs, and I always looked forward to his visits. He was a true gentleman, and will be missed by many.
