Ioan Gabor

Janos (Hans, Ioan) Gabor – born on March 11, 1929 in Velt Romania, Hans came to Canada in 1997. On October 20, 2023 at the age of 94, he passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s General Hospital with his family at his side.

Survived by his second wife Johanna, daughter Aurora Hollo, son-in-law Richard Ejsymont, grandchildren Lorand Hollo (Johanna), Eniko Hollo-Pintar (Justin), Lindsay Ejsymont (Ron Murphy), niece Marika (Arpad Ferencz), many nieces and nephews, step-daughters Mars (Peter Bloch), Violetta (Mike Wareing) and Isabella Grigoroff and their families.

Predeceased by his first wife Elisabeth (nee Vizsoli), brother Martin and sisters Magda (Szekely) and Margit (Kovacs).

Hans was generous, kind, full of love and always happy. He was a family first man, exceptional spouse, father and grandfather. He loved and was loved by everyone whose lives he touched. Once retired, his passions were gardening, making wine and spending time with his family. He loved going to the cottage and being at family gatherings or at any gathering of happy people. He loved dancing, singing and watching sport channels. He was a member of the Transylvania Club Choir for many years. He will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched and we will always remember his big love and dedication for his family and friends.

Family and friends may visit Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre (1001 Ottawa St. S. Kitchener) on Saturday, October 28 from 11-12 pm with a prayer service at 12:00 pm. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary’s Cardiac Care Centre are appreciated.
