Pauline was raised on a farm with her sister and brother, on the outskirts of Port Elgin.
Anyone who knew Pauline would know that her life was marked by seeking after God. Although she attended church with her family as a child and youth, she knew something was missing and sought to discover that Truth. After high school, Pauline attended nursing school where, through a dear friend, Sonja Barfoot, she met Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour. This was a pivotal moment in her life. There was no turning back.
Near the end of nursing school, Pauline met and married the love of her life, Reverend Bruce Clark, who proposed on their first date. Together they raised their family and pastored churches in Calendar, Zephyr, Mount Pleasant, Mount Albert, Thunder Bay, Angus, Port Hope, and Toronto. During this time Pauline also worked as a nurse in Calendar and Thunder Bay.
Pauline’s life was not defined by the pursuit of career, status or worldly possessions. Rather her focus was on following Jesus, loving others and pointing people to Him. A day that involved serving others was a successful day for Pauline, and this is how her days, weeks and years were filled. In Pauline’s own words, her dream was to be a wife and mom, and this she did with extraordinary excellence and fullness. Each of her children and grandchildren’s lives are forever marked by her love, prayers and the biblical truths that she taught through example and word. Anyone who was lonely or in need was welcome in Pauline and Bruce’s home, including international students, neighbours and newcomers to Canada. Endless hours were spent preparing Sunday School lessons, Bible Clubs, youth nights, and women’s events. She also found joy in serving her community through Welcome Wagon, Mothers Who Care, Molly Maid, and Paramed.
In the final years of her life, Bruce and Pauline each faced some intense health challenges. Through this time, they served each other selflessly, a beautiful expression of their deep and endless love for each other. After her recent three month battle with cancer, she peacefully went to be with her Saviour.
Pauline wanted everyone she met to experience the saving grace of Jesus Christ and the confident hope she had of eternity with him in Heaven - a reality that she is now living to the fullest.
