

Passed away peacefully at age 85 at the Village of Winston park, Kitchener, Ontario March 24, 2012. Loving husband of Lorraine Waechter (nee Meyer) (2007) and survived by his son David, sister Gertrude Cullen, daughter-in-law Filomena, grandchildren Matthew, Stephen and Pamela Waechter and great-granddaughter Tianna. Predeceased by his son Michael, parents Frank and Bertha and brothers Philip, George and Tommy. He will be greatly missed by friends in Kitchener and Southampton.
He worked as an aeronautical engineer, beginning at Avro Aircraft in Malton. Following the cancelation of the Avro Arrow, he and his family moved to Long Island, New York where he worked for six years at American Airlines and two years at a consulting company, Aero Performance Inc.. He returned to Canada in 1967, working at De Havilland Aircraft in Downsview and later at Canadair near Montreal. He retired in 1988 and spent many happy years in Southampton, Ontario. He will be remembered as sociable and unassuming with a good sense of humour.
Family and Friends will be received for visitation at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener (Westmount Rd.) on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 2- 4 and 7 – 9 pm (Prayers at 3:30 pm). A Mass for Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 305 Laurentian Ave., Kitchener at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the CNIB or the Alzheimer’s Society and may be arranged by contacting the Westmount Funeral Chapel at (519) 743-8900.
