I am surprised to read this obituary. Such a friendly customer and a pleasure to ring up his purchase at GT when I worked there. My sympathies to his wife and extended family.

Before my first visit to Canada, Matt had said how much Ray loved Giant Tiger and Tim Horton’s didn’t realise how true that was! I had to get a pic of him in there. 
Ray was an awesome guy with such a big heart, I’ll miss the guitar talk, the music talk and Ray being Ray. RIP Uncle Ray. Missed so much already.

Such a shock for everyone. I had a lovely time when I went over to stay with Ray and Cags and we had many laughs. I was made to feel at home and Ray was just his usually kind, gentle fun self. Cags always here for you xxx

Whenever we visited Ray and Carole, we’d take Ray the latest version of the Everton shirt.
On one visit we went to Niagara-on -the Lake. For those that don’t know it, it’s a quaint, sleepy town with small, independent shops alongside boardwalks.
By coincidence, both myself and Ray had decided to wear our Everton tops and stone coloured shorts for the day out.

Ray walked in to one small shop and was greeted by an Everton supporter who immediately made a fuss of Ray because of the top. As they chatted (I was not in the shop at this point) Ray said to this guy “In a small town in a quiet area like this, what are the chances of meeting another Evertonion? Pretty slim eh!” To which the guy wholeheartedly agreed.

You’re probably ahead of me at this point, but in I walked with my Everton top, Ray totally aware I’d be not far behind him. I remember the guy doing a ‘double take’ at me and the look of surprise on his face.
Ray just had a cheeky smirk on his face.

A great guy with a dry sense of humour. I’ll miss him.

Over many years, what amazing holidays and memories we’ve had visiting Ray & Cags; we’ve loved every visit. Every time, we were made to feel so welcome, it felt like being home from home. 

The day always started with a fab breakfast in one of the local diners. Funny how each diner was close to an antique barn, this certainly made Ray’s day. 

There were so many funny moments and we have laughed a lot over the years. One that springs to mind is when Ray announced that he was going to fork the lawn. I was washing the dishes and I remember thinking to myself “I wonder what that involves?” For anyone that doesn’t know, it’s running out sticking the fork in the lawn three times, running back in and back on the computer - love it. Still makes me smile to this day.

We were so saddened to hear that Ray had suddenly passed; Ray will be in our thoughts forever. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories.

Dearest Ray, my heart aches knowing you are no longer with us. I will always remember your kindness and the way you always said hello to me when we would see each other at work.(sunrise) I treasured our conversations and laughter. Sending all my love to your wife, who you would talk about so lovingly. I’ll miss you so much. What a kind soul.

Ray your jolly laughter will be so missed in the backroom of Sunrise! I still haven’t bought a house yet, but I promise to let you know when I finally do.

I had the great pleasure of knowing Ray for 14/15 years prior to my retiring in 2023, Ray joined me in working in the Hardware & paint Dept for several years until i switched departments, but we spoke every day whenever he was in working in the dry grocery dept, we joked quite often & spoke all the time about soccer, we had some good banters! He will be sorely missed by not only my wife & myself but many more associates at the store. God bless you my friend. RIP. Till we meet again.

I am in shock. We have been Ray & Carole's next-door neighbours since they moved to Sweetbriar those many years ago. I have been up at the cottage since last Thursday, and just found out about this from my other neighbour texting me the obit. This is a heavy blow for the Kuschnereit family. Frankly, you couldn't ask for better neighbours than Ray & Carole. Although we weren't bosom buddies, I shall miss our conversations out front bitching about the winter, or talking footie (especially during the World Cup and the Euros). Ray and Carole have been, without a word of a lie, the perfect neighbours, and a big part of the Sweetbriar family. I'm really going to miss Ray.......he made the effort to be part of the neighbourhood (unlike so many others these days). My fond nickname for him was "The Englishman". We shall miss him. Our condolences.

My buddy Peo. We had such a ball working together at Cadburys. One of the funniest times of my life was when we we’re trying on fancy dress outfits and you attempted to put an elephant suit on. It was clearly too small for you and when you bent over you ripped the backside out of it. How we managed to change the suit without the shop owner noticing and us both not suffering a heart attack due to our hysterical laughter. We had some amazing times Ray and we kept our friendship going even when you moved across the pond. You will always be a true friend. Please say hello to Ringo buddy.
