Loving father to his “girls” Tiffany Nytz (Peter) and Tracey Duldhardt (Kevin). Amazing Grandpa to Natalie, Alexander, Turner and Carson. Special Grandpa to Arwin. Predeceased by his parents, William and Jessie Busch (Murray) and his two sisters June Rieck (Bernie) and Carole Taber (Jim). Loved and respected by his nieces and nephews. Richard cherished unique relationships with his fabulous cousins, countless friends and the Splash Gang.
Richard was born in Winnipeg on November 19, 1947 and moved with his family to Kitchener as a young boy. He met, courted and married the girl next door, Luann. They shared 52 years of marriage together, always surrounded by the love of family and friends, but never needing more than one another. After a short career in policing, Richard spent years working for Kraus Carpets, eventually leaving to establish Busch Training, a health and safety consulting company.
Richard was a kind and compassionate minister in the New Apostolic Church, a role to which he was devoted for almost 40 years. Each soul felt comfortable in his presence and he was well loved in the congregations where he served. A dedicated leader, he mentored many young brothers in Kingsdale, Fergus and other locations across Southwestern Ontario and the Maritimes. A peacemaker by nature, he approached even the most difficult situation with humility and warmth.
Richard found reason for joy in each day. He camped as a young child and continued to do so with his young family. He cherished time spent at Miller Lake with Luann and his grandkids and seldom turned down a round of golf with friends.
The family would like to thank the many doctors who provided outstanding care for Richard. Despite his illness, he was blessed to be able to attend many special occasions and trips with family and friends over the past five years.
Visitation will take place at the New Apostolic Church, 160 Margaret Ave, Kitchener on Saturday, January 22 at 9:45am. Funeral service to follow at 11am, Bishop Mike Wagner officiating. For those who cannot attend, a link to a closed web stream can be obtained by request through [email protected].
