Passed away peacefully in her sleep at University Gates on Tuesday February 25, 2020. Predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Murray (2011), and her son J.C. (Margaret), (2003). Sheila is survived by her daughter Anne (Rob) Way, her sons David and Ian, all of Kitchener. Loving grandmother of Jenifer, Kevin, Hilary (Dave), Tristan and Cameron. Grandma Great to Andy and Elyse.
Sheila lived her life on her own terms. She was born in Burmingham, England, and as a young nurse, emigrated to Canada where she met Murray, an Air Force mechanic, and were married 6 weeks later. As a devoted mother to her family, Sheila was active in whatever activities her family was involved in from hockey and figure skating to her many years of volunteer service to the Radial Railway Museum in Milton.
An independent woman, she will be missed for her unique sense of humor, love of animals, music and the outdoors, and the unapologetic way she lived her life.
The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff at University Gates who allowed our mother to live according to her schedule. They are truly a caring community.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Association would be greatly appreciated. Cremation has taken place.
